Are you planning on a new web site for your business but are unsure of the best way to go about it? It's a good idea to do some planning before you take that first step. You may be inclined to create a visually stunning web site but be sure if you do that it will be functional, as well.

Keep in mind that sometimes overly creative designs can make for bad search engine optimization or interfere with the best search engine ranking. It can be discouraging for those who are very creative.

Whatever design you select, it should conform as best as possible to the rules set forth by Google and other search engine.

It's for good reason. Doing so will increase your odds of your clients finding you by using Google and may help your business grow. The more you have going on with your web site, the greater the chance that it could sink in the Google rankings.

Of course, there are no guarantees in life, especially not with search engines. You can do everything Google recommends and still not achieve a great page rank. It's frustrating, I know.

That's something to consider when putting together your web site. What most people do is reach a compromise. They go with a design that meets their business requirements and also works well with search engines. This happy medium is usually successful and worth considering.

Creating a web site is a big commitment for any business and it's not one to rush into. Think about what your goals are and what rules you need to go by in putting a web site together. It's worth it to plan before you get started.

If you're uneasy about doing all the work yourself, don't be shy about getting help. Ask friends for advice or hire a professional. They will help you avoid common pitfalls.
